If you are reading this right now, living a healthy lifestyle and leading an active lifestyle is probably important to you. At Fleet Feet Atlanta, we exist to provide the community the information and tools needed to meet that lifestyle successfully. While many days we get caught up in shoes and apparel, group runs and training programs, we want to bring to light another important initiative that often gets overlooked but has become an elephant in the room.
Consider these facts:
Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years.
In 2012, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.
Obese youth are more likely to have risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure. In a population-based sample of 5- to 17-year-olds, 70% of obese youth had at least one risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
We want to help tackle this issue and to do so, we have partnered with Camp Strong4Life, an initiative from Children's Healthcare Of Atlanta. Making a difference in the community is important to us and we want you to be a part of it! The video below will give you some insight into the awesome program that is Camp Strong4Life
