Patagonia, a brand recognized for its top of the line apparel and gear, has been a longtime favorite amongst outdoor enthusiasts. Why, one might ask? Well, the simple answer would be that it looks good, it feels good, and it performs well. That alone would explain why skiers, surfers, fishermen, and runners all over the world choose to endorse the brand. However, with the technology in the outdoor clothing industry continually evolving, and with other companies making similar products, Patagonia’s popularity reaches far beyond clothing quality. In fact, the company’s purpose extends far beyond the brand itself.
As displayed on the company’s website, Patagonia’s mission statement is “Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis.” Starting as a small company that built tools for climbers, Patagonia is truly a company that was created by and for those who have a profound love for nature, and therefore, want to protect it.
Patagonia takes pride in being a company that is at the forefront of environmental preservation. Though, with that being said, even they recognize that their own business activity can negatively affect the world that we live in. In an effort to counteract that and reduce consumerism, the company continually commits a portion of its overall sales to support environmental groups, as well as uses recycled and organic materials in the making of its clothes.
Just as Patagonia strives to make the best products possible, Fleet Feet Atlanta focuses on providing its customers with the best products available that will aid them on their journey to a healthier and more active lifestyle. While an individual can change his or her own health for the better, it takes a group effort to positively affect the health of the environment that we live in. So, the next time you are shopping for your outdoor apparel needs, don’t just look at the brand, look beyond the brand.
