Fitlosophy Process

We pay special attention to your needs in order to fit you in the right shoe. The Footwear Fit Process helps us do just that.

Using our exclusive Footwear Fit Process, our Fleet Feet Sports team members guide runners and walkers through an extensive fitting process that ensures a proper fit. Below is a step by step walk through of the process that we use to make sure you are fitted into the best shoes for you. No appointment necessary, but please allow extra time when you come in for your personal Fit.

Step One: Welcome and Explanation of The FIT Process

Fitting our customers begins with a hello and an explanation of the Footwear FIT Process.

Step Two: Getting to Know You

We take time to ask questions about your current fitness activities and goals. We also discuss any existing or past injuries and talk about the footwear you currently use.  We'll then have you take off your shoes and socks so that we can take a closer look at your feet.   We aren’t doctors and don’t pretend to be, but we take a look at your feet in order to fit you properly and determine any special needs.  Some things we look for include blisters, black toe, hammer toe, calouses, bunions, as well as other foot problems.  We also look at arch height, foot width, heel width and other foot characteristics.

Step Three: Measurement

Several measurements of each foot help us determine proper sizing. We take both unweighted (seated) and weighted (standing) measurements as well as different point to point measurements.

Step Four: Gait Analysis

We’ll bring out a neutral test shoe and observe as you run or walk a short distance. This helps us determine how you move and the biomechanics of your gait.  However, before we have you put on your shoes, we'll provide you with a clean, freshly washed moisture wicking non-cotton sock to put on while you try on your shoes.

Step Five: Fitting and Recommendations

Based on our findings, we will bring out the shoes that may work best for you. We’ll carefully inspect the fit of the shoe and watch as you run or walk. We’ll discuss other options, provide you with our recommendations and answer any questions.

Step Six: The Decision

This one is all you. You are the only person who knows how the shoes actually feel.

Step Seven: Completing the Process

Now that you’ve made a decision, we’ll talk about the proper fitting of other sock and apparel products that can help you achieve your fitness goals.
